University of Stavanger - my campus

I started my bachelor degree in Christianity/Religion (for more information about the programme, please take a look at my bachelor site) last fall at the University of Stavanger. This college got the status of ‘university’ 1st of January 2005, so it’s fairly new. There are aprx 7000 students and 1000 employees here, and it takes me two bus drives at a total of 50 minutes to get there.

It has been a dream come true for me, to be able to study. As most people who know me are more than aware of, I had a hard time at work the last year prior to last fall. Mostly due to the fact that I had decided I wanted to study a year before I actually did, so I was just counting down my months at work, feeling like the day would never come.

Now it’s here. It’s my second term now, and I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do at the moment. I really enjoy both to study and the campus at UiS. I’m also impressed by the cafeteria, offering menues of fish and vegetarian meals every day (in addition to meat dishes).

I am nearing my thirties, but it’s not at all too late to quit work and start studying. Not for me. And I would advice those who are in a familiar situation to go for it if you can - you have more than thirty working years a head of you anyway. Why not take three of five of them as study years?
